Bhutan’s Haa District to welcome travelers for homestay

Bhutan’s online news Kuenselonline reports that Bhutan’s lesser known Haa Valley will soon be ready to welcome the foreign travelers to stay in their private farmhouses. Bhutan’s Haa District which lies about 100 km south of Paro, was closed for travelers until 2002. The Haa District is lesser known, has pristine nature and authentic Bhutanese culture.

The Tourism Council of Bhutan and Haa District Administration have jointly worked for village tourism and have picked up 17 farmhouses. Renovations of the private farmhouses are underway. While the guests will get opportunity to experience the home stay, the villagers who are deprived of any direct benefits from tourism, will gain economic and social opportunities.

The host families are trained in basic housekeeping, cleanliness and hygiene. The travelers will get opportunity to befriend the locals, learn their lifestyles and participate in daily activities of the locals.
