Himalayan Airlines to fly Kathmandu-Lhasa from Oct 28, 2014.
Himalayan Airlines-a new joint venture of Yeti Air International, a subsidiary of Yeti Airlines Group and Tibet Airlines plans to operate Kathmandu-Lhasa flights from Oct 28, 2014. It will become a second international carrier linking Kathmandu with Lhasa. As of now, only Air China has been flying between Kathmandu and Lhasa and travelers are paying very high fare for 75 minutes long flight. After introduction of Himalayan Airlines flightsss, the fare is believed to go significantly down. The airlines plans to start operation with 3 Airbus 320 in the first year and then will add 5 more aircrafts to the fleet in the second year and connect Kathmandu with Chengdu.
With the operation of Himalayan Airlines, the number of tourist traveling to Tibet from Nepal side is expected to increase significantly and the Chinese tourists are also expected to increase in Nepal.
