Bungamati is a village development committee located in Lalitpur District. Bungamati or Bunga as called by local people in Newa or Amarapur (an old name) is a typical Newar village which dates back from the 6th century.
Patan Industrial Estate is located at Lalitpur, around 500m south of Lagankhel bus stand near Satdobato. This Industrial Estate is prominent for Nepali handicrafts such as wood carvings, metal crafts, carpets and thangka paintings.
Just a five-minute walk west and north from the northern end of Durbar Square is Hiranya Varna Mahaviha, also known as Kwa Bahal, Suwarna Mahavihar and to the tourist better known as the Golden Temple.
