Rajasthan has long been regarded as the real home of the Maharajas-the king of kings. Renowned as the land packed with majestic forts, palaces and castles of Maharajas, Rajasthan is also home to a large population of many tribal groups; the Bhils and Minas being the largest groups.

This tour has been designed for you to experience the lifestyle of a Maharaja. You will travel through the historic forts and fortresses, experience the luxury of palaces and castles turned to hotels, embark on camel back safaris, dine on the grand Rajasthani meals, and enjoy the folk-dance performances by the Rajasthani belles in the sand dunes.

In this trip, you will discover a whole new world as you meander down the centuries, while you are in this amazing land.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01~Arrival in Delhi

Upon arrival, Far & High representative will receive you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. You may then rest for remainder of the day to recover from any jet lag.

Accommodation in Hans Plaza **** or similar first-class property.

Day 02~In Delhi

In the morning, after a complimentary breakfast at the hotel, you will take a city tour covering Laxmi Narayan Temple called The Place of Gods. Then on to the India Gate which was the memorial of martyrs and finally to the Parliament House which is the local government's headquarters.

In the afternoon, after you have lunch (not provided) you will be taken on a city tour of Old Delhi. We will be covering Jama Masjid, which is the largest mosque in Asia, the Red Fort or the red stone magic and then to the Gandhi memorial, to view the memoir of the Father of the Nation.

This evening you will enjoy the sound and light show before you're taken back to the hotel.

Day 03~Drive from Delhi to Mandawa (169 miles/06 hrs.)

Today, after breakfast, you will drive to Mandawa which is a compact little town in the Shekhavati region. There you shall visit a Haveli, or mansion that has many stunning frescoes. The medieval fort of Mandawa gradually rises on the horizon much like a mirage. The painted arched gateway is adorned with Lord Krishna and his cows leading into to the bazaar.

Day 04~Drive from Mandawa to Bikaner (144miles/05 hrs.)

In the morning, you will take a drive to Nawalgarh, a town where one of the finest of the Shekhavati’s frescoes can be seen. Its Havelis or mansions still bear witness to the rich and prosperous Marwari era of the 19th century. Places that are worth visiting are the Aath Haveli complex, Anandilal Poddar Haveli, Bansidhar Bhagat Haveli and the Chokhani Haveli.

Next you will end your drive in Bikaner, the valley of serenity. Upon arrival you will check into the hotel and the rest of the evening you are free to relax and enjoy your luxury accommodations.

Day 05~Another day at Bikaner

Today, you will enjoy a city tour covering Junagadh Fort. The fort was constructed between 1588 and 1593 by Raja Rai Singh; it has a 3,235 ft. long wall with 37 bastions and two entrances. Next you will visit Bhand Sagar Temple. This 16th century Jain temple is the most important of this temple complex.

Today you will also get to see a Camel Breeding Farm. This unique experience will allow you to ride on a camel and have perhaps your first taste of camel’s milk. 

Enjoy another night of royal hospitality at the Laxmi Nivas Palace.

Day 06~Drive from Bikaner to Jaisalmer (203 miles/6.5 hrs.)

In the morning you will drive to Jaisalmer, which is the citadel city. Upon arrival, you will check into the hotel and in the afternoon, you are free to relax or enjoy the city atmosphere.

Day 07~Explore Jaisalmer

Today, you will enjoy a city tour covering the Jaisalmer Fort. The fort was built on the highest point of the Tricuta hill called the sun gate. Many outstanding features here are Megh Durbar and other various temples such as Salim-Singh-Ki-Haveli and Patwon-Ki-Haveli. Here, there are some of the most beautiful mansions with lots of stone carving and lattice work of breath taking intricacy. Lodurva, is a masterpiece of architectural grandeur.

Day 08~Drive from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur (193 miles/06 hrs.)

Today, you will drive to Jodhpur, the desert enchantment. Upon arrival, you will check in the hotel and rest since remainder of the day is for your leisure.

Day 09~Explore the forts and palaces of Jodhpur

You will enjoy the full day to tour the city covering the Mehrangarh fort. The fort is unsurpassed in beauty and grandeur. It is one of the largest forts in India. There are innumerable palaces inside the fort, interspersed with sprawling courtyards. There are intricately carved Jaswanthada, which in the 19th century royal cenotaph, is a creation in white marble. Visit the clock tower which is the timely treasure of Jodhpur.

Day 10~Drive from Jodhpur to Udaipur (167 miles/06 hrs.)

In the morning, you will drive to Udaipur, but on the way, you will be visiting the Ranakpur temples. The temples are a pilgrimage centre of Rajasthan. A few of the numerous temples are Chaturmukh temples. Upon arrival in Udaipur, you will check in into the hotel and take the rest of the evening for your leisure.

Day 11~Explore the City of Lakes

Today, you will enjoy the city tour covering Saheliyon Ki Bari which is the garden for the maids of honor of the Queen. Visit Jagdish Temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and it is approachable only by a broad flight of steps. The shrine is on a rectangular platform on the lines of the Indo-Aryan style of architecture. Next is the city palace, which is located amidst Lake Pichola, Eklingji and the Nagda Temples. The Nagda Temple is built in white marble with a double storied porch.

Enjoy another night of royal retreat at the Shiv Nivas Palace Hotel.

Day 12~Drive from Udaipur to Pushkar (181 miles/05 hrs.)

Today, drive to Pushkar, the city of Brahma. The temple of Brahma has one of the major troika gods of Hindus. The rest of the day, you are free to visit the camel market and admire the largest cattle market in the world.

Day 13~Explore Pushkar and around.

In the morning, visit Jagat Pita Shri Brahma Temple. Then visit the Apteshwar Mahadeo Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. If your trip date coincides with that of the Pushkar Festival and Fair, this will be unique opportunity to attend the massive gatherings, joyous festivities, cultural extravaganza, and the cattle marketing of this famous fair. This fair is one of the major cultural reflectors of the state of Rajasthan. People from different parts of India gather on the fairgrounds to participate in the various entertaining events there as well.

Day 14~Drive from Pushkar to Jaipur (85 miles/03 hrs.)

In the morning, you will head towards Jaipur with sightseeing of Dargah and Sufi Saint Moinuddin Chishti, entering through a high gateway with silver doors on the way. The grave of the saint is surrounded by a silver railing. Check in the hotel and rest of the day is for your leisure.

Day 15~Explore the Pink City of Jaipur

In the morning, you will visit the Amber fort. From the base of the fort, you can take an elephant ride to the top. In the afternoon, take the city tour covering the City Palace which occupies a large area divided into a series of courtyards, gardens, buildings and a perfect blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Next visit the Royal Observatory which has some interesting and rare qualities. Visit Nawab-Sahab-Ki-Haveli and the Bazaar of Jaipur.

Day 16~Drive from Jaipur to Agra (163 miles/06 hrs.)

Bid farewell to Rajasthan and proceed to Agra. En route, you will stop by Fatehpur Sikri, an abandoned city established by Emperor Akbar. There you will visit Jama Masjid, the Buland Darwaza, Palace of Jodha Bai, Birbal Bhawan and Panch Mahal. Upon arrival, you will check in hotel and rest of the day is for your leisure.

Day 17~Visit Taj Mahal and take overnight train to Varanasi

In the morning, you will visit the Taj Mahal. It is a poem in the marble and the most extravagant monument ever built for love. Next you will travel to the Red Fort; this is where many of the events that led to the construction of the Taj took place. After that, visit Itmad-ud-daula’s Tomb, the tomb is of particular interest since many of the elephants' design overshadow the Taj. In the evening, you will be transferred to the railway station to connect to a train to Varanasi. This is an overnight train with an air-conditioned cabin with a sleeping car. You can opt to take a flight as well paying an extra cost.

Day 18~Explore the holy city of Varanasi

Upon arrival in Varanasi, you will be transferred to the hotel. Later in the day, you will visit the highlights of Varanasi including Sarnath where Lord Buddha first preached his sermon after being enlightened. Other sites of interest are: Tulsi Manas Temple, Alamgir Temple, Bharat Mata Temple, and Kashi Vishwanath- the golden Temple.

Day 19~Flight from Varanasi to New Delhi

Early in the morning, you will take a boating trip on the River Ganges. Varanasi’s principal attraction is the string of bathing Ghats, that which line the Western Ghats of the River Ganges. You will observe the vibrant activities that go along the array of Ghats every day. Cremation services, holy bathing, and shraddha (reverence) rituals are all the common sights that you get to see along the banks of the river. After breakfast, you will be transferred to airport for your flight to Delhi.

Day 20~Delhi Departure

Transfer to airport for your international flight back home.

Trip Difficulty Level

This is basically a motor vehicle based tour, suitable for travelers of all ages with normal health conditions. Some monuments, forts or castles visit might require climbing stairs. Please, do not expect elevators or escalators. Subject to availability, you may have an opportunity to experience elephant, camel, and/or canoe rides.

This trip does not involve any strenuous hiking or climbing and so you have any altitude issues at all, however, we have some long day drives. But we will have ample opportunities to stop on the way to stretch our legs. Although, no major preparation is necessary for this trip, it’s recommendable that you start a soft training program such as walking, jogging, cycling, or aerobics about a month ahead of the trip to keep yourself physically fit.

Life on the Trip

A sightseeing day, depending on the season, starts between 8.30 am to 9 am. You are met by your Guide at the hotel lobby and proceed for the sightseeing. You will have the lunch break around noon to 1 pm. After lunch, embark on the tour that will last for 2 to 3 hours and then you are brought back to your hotel. Your guide and driver will be happy to drop you somewhere else if you want some time on your own. When you are traveling from one city to the other, usually you will spend 4-5 hours on the road with occasional stops for photography, drinks, and snacks.


Rajasthan has many choices of accommodations for every budget but our choice of accommodations are superior properties, locally classified as four or five star, with all modern amenities that include a private bathroom with hot and cold shower, central air-conditioning, phone, mini refrigerator, restaurants, and more. Our preferred hotels in Rajasthan are usually former castles or Haveli's (large stately homes/mansions).

Tour Guide

All our trips are led by local guides who are university graduates, and are trained and certified by the Indian tourism authorities. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible. They will show you the wonders of the areas that you would never discover on your own and also share their knowledge on Indian history, culture, and religion. Your guide carries the necessary vouchers for the hotels and will buy admission tickets where necessary. The tour guide and the driver are not the same person.


Depending on the group size, Far & High will use air-conditioned SUV's, Mini Van's, or coaches for all transfers and tours. Our drivers are friendly locals with years of experience in driving vehicle in tourism and hospitality industry. Your driver may have limited English speaking skills.

International and Internal Airfares

You may purchase your international airfare to India and return on your own. If you do need any help with this, you may certainly feel free to contact us and we will take care of the internal airfares for you. The local airport taxes may or may not be included in the airfare.


When you have decided that you would like to travel with us, it advisable to initiate reservation as early as possible so that we can secure the reservation in the preferred hotels as well as the flights. A deposit of US$ 300 is requested along with the completed trip application forms and passport copies.

If any ground suppliers or hotels need a deposit to secure the reservation, we will request a second part payment will be due to cover those deposits. The balance of your payment is due 90 days prior to your departure. Credit card payment other than the initial deposit attracts an additional fee of 3.5%.

We will email you a detailed trip dossier with your confirmed list of hotels, services, and travel notes within 2-3 weeks upon booking.


  • 90 days prior to departure: Administrative fee US$ 150 per person.
  • 60-89 day's prior departure: US$ 250 or 25% of the land cost whichever is higher.
  • 45 days to 59 days prior departure: US$ 450 or 50% of the land cost whichever is higher.
  • 30 days to 44 days prior departure: US$ 600 or 75% of the land cost whichever is higher.
  • Less than 30 days: 100%.

It’s also possible that you may need medical assistance, emergency evacuation, or medical transportation when you get ill or if you are involved in an accident while you are traveling in remote areas.
