Overview

Thailand is known for the glittering temples, ornate palaces, ancient archeological ruins, and tropical beaches in Southeast Asia. We will have the opportunity to experience all of these on this trip. We visit the gold gilded majestic temples of Bangkok and Chiang Mai, explore the archeological ruins of Ayutthaya and learn about its glorious history, experience the serene natural beauty of northern Thailand, spend quality time with the friendly elephants in their natural habitat. We will also have time to browse through the vibrant markets, sample authentic Thai cuisine, and experience the local Lanna hospitality in Chiang Mai.

After Chaing Mai, we take a flight to Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus. Koh Samui is renowned for its palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves, and dense, mountainous rainforest, plus luxury resorts and posh spas. From Koh Samui, we will take an excursion of Angthong National Marine Park that contains about 42 islands! Comparing to Phuket, Koh Samui is less crowded and recommend for travelers who love the natural sceneries and peaceful environment. The trip concludes here, and then we take the flight back to Bangkok and connect with the international flight back home.

Overnight: U Sathorn Bangkok
Day 03~Bangkok: Excursion of Archaeological ruins of Ayutthaya

Today, we take a day trip to Ayutthaya (47 miles, 2 hours)- the second capital of Thailand, after Sukhothai. Ayutthaya flourished from the 14th to the 18th centuries and became one of the world's largest and most cosmopolitan urban areas and international trade hub. Unfortunately, the city was attacked and devastated by the Burmese army in the 18th century. Today, the town exists in the archeological ruins and remnants that survived the attack. It is characterized by the prang (reliquary towers) and significant monasteries, that showcases the past glory.

The tour begins at the Summer Palace of the late King Rama V, commonly known as "Bang Pa-In," and continues through the magnificent ruins of early splendor. We will pass or visit the most impressive ruins of this World Heritage Site and eventually return to Bangkok by a cruise ship. We will cruise down the Chao Phraya River, enjoying a sumptuous buffet lunch on board. From the disembarkation point, we transfer to the hotel.
