Great news for travelers to India! The tedious process of Indian visa application seems to have ended now. Indian government on Thursday, 28 Nov, 2014 launched the much-touted online visa facility for 43 countries including the US, Australia, Japan, Israel, Germany and Singapore. Travelers can apply for a visa from the comfort of their homes and receive a visa in email within 72 hours.
Within 72 hours of your submission, you will receive an electronic travel authorization (ETA) which will be valid for 30 days. You are able to complete the application, upload passport copy and picture and pay the visa fee online. Those traveling on leisure, short duration medical treatment, casual business visit or to meet friends and relatives will be eligible to apply. The facility will be made available at nine airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Thiruvanathapuram.
Your passport must have remaining validity at least 6 months at the time of travel. You should also have a return or onward journey ticket. This online visa application is not available for travelers born in Pakistan and the diplomatic and official passport holders.
