Wangdue Tsechu  is celebrated in Wandgdue Phodrang Dzong-the second capital of Bhutan. The Dzong fortress lies on the contour of a hill overlooking the river.

Wangdue Tsechu  is celebrated in Wandgdue Phodrang Dzong-the second capital of Bhutan. The Dzong fortress lies on the contour of a hill overlooking the river. A giant Buddha Thangka painting known as thongdrel is unfurled during the Tsechu or festival. Series of dances are performed by monks and laymen to commemorate the heroic deeds of Guru Padamasambhava who introduced Buddhism in Bhutan.
